After updating kubuntu (amd64) fromm 8.04 to 8.10 using the online update, some Icons are missing/wrong.
This Problem only occurs under the main account, which was used to perform the update.

You once set your icons theme manually, so it won't get changed to Oxygen, automagically.

We can't automize this for Intrepid because of technical issues with the component responsible for KDE configuration updates. For Jaunty (9.04) we might be able to strip the icon setting and force Oxygen.

As mentioned on my duplicate bug, even manually setting my theme to Oxygene hasn't fixed the spam/ham buttons in Kmail.

The following worked for me!
System settings > Appearance > Icons > Change theme to another AND apply > Change theme to Oxygen AND apply.

@Jack: Did you check the spam/ham buttons in KMail ?
I did you steps, and their still broken-icon symbol for me.

Sorry I don't use KMail - thunderbird user!!

I suggest you try: System settings > Appearance > Style -> Widget Style -> change and apply
Then revert
I changed in both the icons tab & style tab
If that hadn't worked for me I would have rebooted after the first change and before changing back.
Sorry I've only just got back to you

Still the same problem with kde4.3 packages from ppa -
Icons appeared when I changed the icon-appearance to oxygen. If I do run "Crystal SVG" the icons for logOff and shutdown are wrong again.

Maybe a bug of the theme?

Unfortunately we can't resolve this in a non-invasive matter, so we are closing this bug.

Changed in kde4libs (Ubuntu):
status: Triaged → Won't Fix

Sorry to ask again - what does it mean?

A software update seems to have removed the correct icon from a theme -
I do assume that changing an icon is an invasive way to fix a problem.

What do you mean with "can't resolve in a non-invasive matter" ?
